Here we are again with the 2016 season about to start. We are really looking forward to another great year of fishing aboard our amazing new 10m Cougar catamaran ‘Haf-Aled’, which performed beyond all expectations during her first season of 2015! Along with her huge deck space , comfortable sheltered seating, easy access and cruising at 25knts, with a top speed of over 40knts she was sure to impress! The cruising speed has shaved so much off the travelling time to our fishing marks giving our customers so much more fishing time at no extra cost. And although 2015 was the windiest year to date, the fishing was fantastic with so many PB’s being broken!
As usual the reefs of the lleyn peninsula and Bardsey Island produced fantastic days of sport with many different species of fish being caught, showing a healthy marine environment that is sustainably fished year after year. We had good numbers Pollack upto 9lbs, Cod to 7lbs and Coalie to 5lbs. As usual there were plenty of Wrasse (both ballan and coockoo), as well as many other species of fish.
The Wrecks fished well again last season, with plenty of Pollack to 17lbs, Cod to 12lbs, Ling to 12lbs and Coalie to 7lbs. 2015 was a year to remember for the Tope fishing, with so many over the 60lbs being caught as well as a new (Haf-Aled) boat record Tope of 76lbs by Graham Eaton from the Wirral. The Bream went to 2.5lbs and we had a good run of Bass to over 8lbs. New laws now state that ‘no Bass are to be kept by the recreational angler until 1st July and from then until the end of the year only one bass per person per day can be kept’! So if u have booked a Bass trip with me this year you need to be aware of this and may want to think about changing or cancelling the trip if you are not happy with the new rules. There may be a chance that they change this rule by the summer as there are many people trying to fight it. Although we agree that Bass stocks need protecting we also think they have taken it too far on this occasion. If you agree that the new rule is unfair then please contact your MP/AM with your views as this is the only hope we have of changing it. If you wish to keep your Bass booking until nearer the time to see what happens that is fine. We are also putting a couple of two day Wrecking trips together, staying in Ireland for a night to sample some of the Irish atmosphere before returning the next day. The fishing can be special on these trips as it gives us plenty of time to check out far off wrecks that are hardly ever fished!
2015 was also a year that we saw some PB Sharks for the boat and for some of our customers. On our 9 day trip to southern waters we landed over 200 (Blue and Porbeagle) Sharks, many going well over 100lbs and a cracking 160lbs Porgy for Aled Nicholas!
We have extended our trip to southern waters this year so if you fancy having a go at landing a Shark get in touch! Prices of all our trips (except Shark trips) are staying the same as 2015 this year. They are as follows:- Full boat upto 10hrs Wreck fishing (upto 30 miles from Pwllheli)upto 10 anglers £750, individual trips £75pp. For further away Wrecks a small additional fee may be charged to cover the extra fuel. Full boat upto 9hrs Bass fishing trip upto 10 anglers £700 or £70 as an individual. Full boat upto 9hrs Bardsey Island trip upto 10 anglers £650 or £65 as an individual.
Full boat upto 8hrs Tope/Bream fishing upto 10 anglers £500 or £50 as an individual. Full boat upto 8hrs General fishing upto 10 anglers £450 or £45 as an individual. Shark fishing prices vary depending on where we sail from etc so contact us for prices. We can take upto 12 anglers but price is then based on individual prices. We also run ‘Prestige trips’ where we have groups of individuals that would rather pay extra and have less people on the boat so they have more space to fish, please contact use for available dates and prices. We also reserve the right to increase our prices during the year if fuel prices increase. Deposits need to be paid within 7 days of booking your trip to secure your booking, the balance is then to be paid on the day of the trip. If you cancel your trip within 2 weeks of the trip then your deposit will be lost unless I/you can find someone to replace you. Deposits are £150 for full boat booking, £20 for individual trips. May I take this opportunity to thank all my customers for your support and I look forward to seeing you all again for some awesome fishing in 2016!!
